A portrait of Kan Shojo (845-903), a scholar, poet and politician who became revered as the god of learning. This atmospheric kakemono (vertical diptych) depicts him riding on an ox wearing his court hat with the full moon behind a branch. Yoshitora was active circa 1840-1880.
