An Alphabet by William Nicholson.
A good clean copy of Nicholson’s illustrated alphabet, with twenty six woodblock prints each with a different character representing each letter of the alphabet.
The letter A for Artist is interestingly William Nicholson himself and B for Beggar is the face of his brother.
Each of the woodblock is in excellent condition, strong colours and could be framed up separately if required.
The book inner and outer spine are fine, corners only slightly bumped, some offsetting from plates but this has transferred to the opposite page that is blank.
This is popular second edition from 1898.
