A good strong woodcut of Forget Me Not’s’ by the famous Hall Thorpe. Born in Australia studied and worked in London in the 1920-30s.
It is signed in pencil by the artist in the bottom right hand corner, each colour has its own wood block that is cut by the artist and then printed, carefully registering each colour to built up the whole picture.
This woodcut is in its original frame and has three paper label’s,(shown in photos), the middle one gives a good description of how woodcuts are made.
The other two are the framers and a printed label for Hall Thorpe’s.
