Knud Kyhn 1880 – 1969 was a multi talented artist who was accomplished in painting, illustrating but most famously for his animal sculptures.
He worked for the Royal Copenhagen factory in Denmark for the majority of his life, where he was allowed the freedom to make his many animal sculpture in his own distinctive style.
He closely studied animal at the Copenhagen Zoo capturing the essence and characteristics of each of his subjects.
Knud kyhn produced small pieces which are easy to find, but his larger models are much rarer.
This water Buffalo is a good example, he has captured the animal as it raises is head to bellow, it is in perfect condition.
