John Hall Thorpe was born in Australia (1874 -1947), then came to London to study art at Goldsmith College in the 1920s.

Producing a series of English country flower wood block prints, his masterpiece being a large study ‘Country Bunch’ involving 15 blocks and taking a full year to finish.
