Hagenauer Austrian Bust inspired by Josephine Baker
Large ebonised profile bust. most probably inspired by Josephine Baker, the exotic dancer who first appeared at the Theatre des ChampnElysee in 1925.
With intricately carved hair pattern and a large hooped earring.
She sits on a nickel-plated base, with Hagenauer stamped within a circle, plus Hagenauer Wien and Made in Austria.
I would probably dates this piece to the 1930’s though it is difficult to date precisely.
