Upchurch Studio Pottery vase, nice large piece , from the Kent pottery works established in 1913 and carried on producing studio pottery till 1963.

Original founded by two brothers they started out manufacturing industrial bricks and tiles for the building industry.

Many of there vase and pot shapes where inspired by the archaeological finds, that where excavated at the near by Roman settlement camp at Faversham in Kent.

Fantastic mottled glaze in the manner of Ruskin, this piece has an early mark that was hand made, so would date it to the first half of the twentieth century.
