Made in the workshop of Stanley Webb Davis by one of his top craftsman, Ernest John Oldcorn 1894 – 1968.
You can see his initials clearly under the year it was made 1957 and the distinctive Stanley Webb Davis Logo
Ernest was famous for his skilled carving and chip work
This Standard lamp is a fine example of his chip carving known as an Adzed finish, the Adze being the name of the wood carving tool.
Stanley Webb Davies had his work shop in Windermere Cumbria in the Lake district producing fine quality hand made furniture that is much prised and sought after today.
The Lamp has been rewired to British standard with its Portable Appliance Test Certificate (P.A.T.)
The Parchment Shade is contemporary with it, and it has understandably some holes and creases.
