Knud Kyhn (1880 – 1969) was a multi talented artist who was accomplished in many disciplines including painting, illustrating but most famously for his animal sculptures. The more common pieces are very small in size, but larger examples are much rarer.
He worked for the Royal Copenhagen factory in Denmark for the majority of his life, where he was allowed the freedom to make his many animal sculpture in his own distinctive style.
This dramatic sculpture of an Elephant stamping on a Tiger in Stoneware and Sung glaze, has been imagined by the artist using the knowledge he gained from studying creatures at the famous Copenhagen Zoo.
